Do I need a new Data Lake for AI?
The short answer
Not necessarily. AI needs governed access to the right context, not an indiscriminate copy of every dataset. Data can remain in source systems and be accessed through queries, APIs, events, tools or appropriate pipelines.
How to decide
- Governed access to the right context, not a copy of everything
- Leave data in source systems when that works
- Build pipelines only where analysis needs them
The Onni principle
AI needs the right context, not all the data.
